Built in memory of Ernst Koller, a businessman and inventor, BBK’s pavilion is a multipurpose space open to the educational community for meetings, workshops and exhibitions. The pavilion, in the spirit of Koller, will serve as a creative center where students on the Basel University campus can come together to brainstorm and design.
The shell of the pavilion consists of large-sized glass panels with a laminated film sandwiched between the discs. The film is a digitized texture of sections of metal frames designed and patented by Koller.
Adding a strong sense of character to the space, the floor is made of black steel plates giving the interior a ‘noble’ air.
The pavilion is meant to be a simplistic expression of the genius to whom it was dedicated, and be outfitted to serve students’ pursuit of their passions.
